February 10, 2017 Chicago, IL – The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, is hosting its annual MMRF Chicago Awards Dinner fundraiser on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, IL. Craig Sager Jr., son of Chicago-native and beloved NBA basketball reporter, Craig Sager, will serve as the evening’s Keynote Speaker. Craig Sager lost his inspirational battle with blood cancer in December 2016. Bonnie Hunt, Actress, Director, Producer, Writer and longtime MMRF supporter and Honorary Board Member will host the event for her 13th year.
Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine today and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers with the MMRF CoMMpass Study (SM) as the cornerstone. Proceeds from this event will benefit our efforts to advance our precision medicine model to accelerate the development of new molecularly targeted, immune and novel therapies to ensure all patients get the right treatment at the right time.
The MMRF is proud to be honoring Sandy and Tom Mihelcic & Family with the Spirit of Hope Award. This award is presented annually to a patient, caregiver, or family who inspires hope through their resilience, perseverance and dedication to the MMRF and its mission. Tom, who lives in Wheaton, IL with his wife Sandy, was diagnosed 9 years ago, and has been in remission for 8 ½ years, and says that the outlook for this disease would be dramatically different without the efforts of the MMRF.
“I have three wonderful children, two fantastic son-in-laws, four beautiful grandchildren and one on the way, and am an avid golfer and skier. I am living with Myeloma, but my myeloma does not define me. Thanks to groundbreaking research of the MMRF, and the speed which they help bring drugs to market for patients like myself, I can enjoy all the things and people I love. I hope that my journey can bring some hope and optimism to other patients like myself,” – Tom Mihelcic
The MMRF Chicago Awards Dinner is a premier Chicago event attended by over 600 supporters including patients, family members, healthcare leaders and business executives.
