The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) mourns the loss of our dear friend, inspiration and hero – holocaust survivor, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and multiple myeloma patient Elie Wiesel. Elie inspired generations with his teachings of peace, justice and human rights activism, and most recently inspired the multiple myeloma community with his perseverance and bravery. He fought multiple myeloma with the same determination that he fought injustice; we are deeply honored to have known him.

Elie shared so many wise thoughts, one of which we live by daily at the MMRF: “Once you bring life into the world, you must protect it. We must protect it by changing the world.” Last fall, the MMRF recognized his remarkable efforts with the MMRF Courage and Commitment Award. He was joined in receiving this honor by Marion, his wife of more than 45 years, and his son Elisha.

We send our thoughts and prayers and pledge our deepest support to his remarkable family – Marion, Elisha, Lynn and his beautiful grandchildren. You are in our hearts.

  1. Eli Wiesel is sadly missed. My love to his entire family. He had so much courage and was so inspiring.
I am proud to be part of the MMRF Family for 5 years now.

  2. I have been in remission for nine years and I try to give thanks every morning that I wake up. My son who is 15 years old began reading Eli Wiesel’s work during freshman English. I have encouraged him to read as much as is humanly possible. We should all celebrate the life and achievement of Elie Wiesel.

  3. Even the great , the courageous and brave aren’t spared this disease we share. But he lived that long life as a humble hero, bringing the bad guys to justice and fighting against horrors man brings to man. But he was not a cold, revengeful person and brought great inteligence and understanding and knowledge to the world. His kind are sorely needed and he will be missed.
